I am a Scottish Director and passionate about the craft of documentary, how we can play with form to make the most innovative and original films. I’m a strong self-shooter, and love equally producing, directing and cinematography. I’m most happy with a story I can sink my teeth into, or a new subject I can learn inside out, film beautifully, and carefully put together in the edit.

I enjoy the collaborative nature of making documentaries. I’m a dedicated team player and support everyone to perform their best, mentoring those more junior on the team. I’m motivated and proactive, even when under extreme pressure.

I’ve filmed in various conditions, everything from -20°C to +50°C, from shipyards in Norway to entrepreneurs in Brazil and archaeologists in the Sahara Desert. I’m tenacious, rigorous and super-organised, and will work hard to get good access.

Through all, whether a crime documentary, an intimate obs-doc or a science series, I believe contributors wellbeing and team safety are paramount over anything else.
